Mediation Assessment in Partnership with Southampton City Council & NFS Mediation receive runner up accolade at ASBActionNet Awards

 in April 2009

The ASBActionNet awards were voted for by ASBActionNet registered users as well as an expert panel who varied from Heads of Housing of a large Housing Societies and Trusts, ASB advisors, a Professor in Housing Law, Head of Community Safety to name but a few. With over 50 entries for the award, 12 of which were shortlisted NFS Mediation were thrilled to be one of the runner ups.

When advised of being shortlisted Steve Smith, Neighbourhood Housing Manager at Southampton City Council said “This is fantastic news for a service that gets in early with neighbour disputes and has maintained a 90% plus success rate for all the years that it has been running”.

Stuart Sillett, Chief Executive of NFS Mediation was quoted as saying “NFS has worked consistently and effectively whilst continuing to develop our Mediation Assessment service with Southampton City Council (SCC) for the past 6 years. Our joint success is the recognition of two organisations working for the benefit of the residents of SCC. Evaluating and reflecting on a project that has been in place for many years at SCC Steve Smith agreed it has been one of the most effective services SCC have been able to give to Housing Officers to solve the minor neighbour anti-social behaviour that arise. The service has consistently produced a success rate above 90% -success being measured in a case not having to be re-referred within a six month period. The service has been recognised nationally, in 2005 recommended as an ASB model in the House of Commons All Party Select Committee Report on Anti-Social Behaviour. NFS were also validated in 2008 as a best practice model by HouseMark after submission and interrogation of case study materials inc practice and procedures and outcomes.
