NFS Mediation celebrates its 10th Anniversary

Our 10th anniversary celebrations were held at the Southampton Combined Court Centre, Courts of Justice, London Road on 22nd January last year. Attended by many organisations and groups that we work, it proved to be a huge success. The event was hosted by Judge Derwin Hope who at the time had been just recently appointed patron for NFS Mediation.

Some of those that took time out to join us were: -

  • Cllr Alec Samuels leader of Southampton City Council and fellow councillors,
  • Cllrs from Eastleigh Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, New Forest District Council
  • Steve Crocker Head of Winchester and Wessex Youth Offending team
  • Superintendent David Hardcastle from Hampshire Police,
  • Cllr Jacqui Rayment Chair of Hampshire Police Authority,
  • Cllr Ivan White Chair of Social Services, legal & democratic Services
  • Magistrates and court members
  • Educational psychiatrists
  • Community safety team members

as well as our staff, trustees and mediators.

Some of the statistics that were quoted on the night about NFS Mediation and its work are:

  • 5149 households
  • 6194 individuals
  • 1807 cases settled
  • 293 severe cases identified for housing action
  • 850 already had police action
  • 2100 cases
  •

These figures show some of the success that NFS mediation have had over the past 10 years and continue to achieve on a month by month basis. The event was a celebration of the services we have successfully delivered over the years. We published a booklet on mediation assessment to celebrate the event and the particularly successful work we undertake for Southampton City Council housing services and its tenants.

We continue to promote the awareness and use of mediation and dispute management services for all those that live and work within our operating area by means of presentations and briefings to various statutory, voluntary and community organisations.
