Chief Executive: Stuart Sillett:

A leading authority in this country on mediation assessment, Stuart has been with NFS for 8 years. He has contributed significantly in the innovation and successful development of ground breaking mediation models that make conflict management an essential ingredient of the Anti-Social Behaviour policies of local authorities, housing and other statutory agencies. With a substantial case work and management experience behind him, Stuart has played a primary role in turning NFS Mediation in to one of the country's most innovative and successful community mediation services. 

Stuart has 20 years restorative justice practitioner experience, gained through working with the Hampshire Probation Service and various statutory and voluntary bodies.

In particular, Stuart has worked extensively in the fields of housing management; mental health; substance misuse and public protection. He has served regularly on multi-agency public protection agreement panels and worked intensively with serious and potentially dangerous offenders.

 

David Morgan: Training and Development Manager:

Having worked with over 2100 households in a wide variety of disputes and carried out over 100 mediations in the workplace, in the community, in housing and in schools, David continues to train in restorative approaches and develop the staff and mediator teams to ensure they are fully equipped to meets today's challenges.

David has established NFS Mediation as an Approved Learning Centre of the national Open College Network. NFS can therefore award formal qualifications in mediation skills. In addition NFS mediation continues its successful programme of tailoring training to the specific needs of organisations and individuals.

Working as a restorative justice practitioner, he trained and qualified as a mediator in New Zealand. David took up a position as a victim/offender mediator with Crime Concern after relocating to the UK in 2001.  He worked as a volunteer mediator with NFS Mediation before being employed by NFS in 2002.

David brings a wealth of life experience with him - the majority of his career was spent in the British Army involving him on tours of duty around the world, including peace keeping in Northern Ireland and Cyprus. His qualifications in personnel management, experience of training and 19 years membership of CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel Development) have fed into a growing interest in mediation and its benefits. As he says "Mediation can heal communication breakdowns and resolve numerous problems at grass roots level before it escalates".

 

Services Manager: Sue Massarweh:

Instrumental in working with Stuart Sillett to drive NFS forward for the future, Sue has recently taken on the role as Services Manager and while continuing to work as an Assessment officer, she now works with Stuart on a management basis. She also continues to split her time between NFS Mediation and her work in Housing with Bournemouth City Council's Supporting People. She is a qualified mediator with a BSc in Psychology, Sue has worked with  over 400 households since joining NFS and is an active restorative justice practitioner.

Sue has previously worked as a panel member for the Wessex Youth Offending Team working under the principles of restorative justice, as well as an Appropriate Adult for the National Children's Home (NCH). This meant that when juveniles were held by Hampshire Police for interview she acted as communicator to ensure their understanding of the situation and proceedings. She has also been part of an innovative published research project which was about the affects Anti-social behaviour orders have on young people and their families.

Assessment Officer: Sheila Dawkins: Formerly a chartered occupational  psychologist and associate fellow of the B.P.S, Sheila was for over 20 years involved in the assessment and rehabilitation of people who were long term unemployed who predominantly had health problems not just physical, but also psychiatric issues to help them get back into the workplace.  

With 5 years experience as a neighbourhood warden in the Test Valley, 27 years as a qualified cartographer responsible for training and supervising at Ordnance Survey in Southampton and having worked on 100’s of cases as an expert employment consultant witness for the courts her diverse work experiences allows her to have much empathy with people from all walks of life.

 

As an assessment officer Sheila has worked with over 1000 households in her role at NFS Mediation.

 

Mediation Systems Co-ordinator: Sarah Dodd:  

Responsible for the administration of the assessment service, Sarah co-ordinates all the mediation and assessment referrals working with many outside organisations. With strong administrative background gained from a varied and challenging work back ground. Recently qualified as a mediator Sarah has carried out mediations and assessments for the service.

 

Finance Coordinator: Janet Teather:

Responsible for the day to day financial management of the organisation for over 5 years, Janet has brought much accountancy knowledge and skills to the organisation. As well as being Sage trained Janet is an experienced administrator with a strong background in special needs education. A fully trained mediator she has carried out many mediations and assessments for the service.

 

Marketing Support Officer: Katie Cook:

CiPD DipM qualified; Katie brings work experience from a housing association and with the Police, as well as many years marketing products in the IT marketing place. Qualified for over 10 years she uses her knowledge and experiences to enable her to best market NFS Mediation.
